I have to hold my hand up and say that I’m not a sci-fi fan. Yes, I know this is a shocking revelation from someone who works in a tech based industry and I keep it quiet! I often find that sci-fi is so obsessed with a dystopian future which is so bleak that I don’t want to project myself there, regardless of how many amazing gadgets exist.
Technology is gaining momentum and developing at a rapid rate. Trying to imagine where we will be in 50-100 years time is impossible. Especially when you consider that futurists in the 50s and 60s made predictions that we would be driving hover cars and mini space ships by now.
With the advent of driverless cars, delivery drones and enhanced life integration with apps and computer systems the next 20 years is going to be an amazing advancement. I do love efficiency and the thought that an on-demand city could bring levels of efficient organisation that meet even my OCD standards is something I could only dream of.
Tomorrow’s Intelligent On-Demand City infographic considers what a real world could look like with the capability of today’s technology. It’s an interesting story and insight into the near future.
The design is in the style of a cartoon story board and walks you through a day (morning) of sequenced events. The cartoon story style works well to deliver the flow of information with clear time notes on each frame. The graphic style of the cartoons is pleasing and works in combination with the 3D modelled city backgrounds. This is a different style of infographic in terms of its not delivering data and stats but a story and I think it works well to deliver the message which could be a potentially confusing subject.
Overall I would give Tomorrow’s Intelligent On-Demand City infographic, from BoldIQ.com an 8 out of 10.
