Air traffic controllers have to be, by their very nature, controlled. The clue is in the title. They have to remain calm under pressure, think fast on their feet and risk and stressful situation without raising their heart beat. One can imagine that air traffic controllers play poker to relax after a hard day at the control tower!

I like this interesting comparison raised. I also like the insight into being an air traffic controller. Not a profession I have considered before but if I had my time again…

A relatively small industry – only 2,500 ATCs work in the UK. I wonder if they all get together for an ‘Airplane’ themed Christmas party? I also wonder how many times the jokes from ‘Airplane’ are used and worn out in the control tower.
