I have to admit I am sceptical about recycling – cue angry shouts in the street! I have heard that it takes so much energy to recycle that it negates the benefits ut’s trying to achieve but, hey, that is most likely hearsay and much of what the recycle industry is up against trying to encourage people not to throw everything away.
If you watch Futurama you may recall an episode where Earth was threatened by imminent destruction from a giant ball of trash it projected into space years earlier. Fact is the more population increases the more trash we produce, the more resources we drain and the more space we need to find to dump all our waste.
When do you ever think about where your rubbish goes when it leaves your bin? Waste management – it’s a dirty subject (yes, I know, that was weak).
Commercial Waste Management Infographic tackles a niche subject and cleverly uses some comparative facts to put it in perspective.
For example, the fact that one bottle recycled can power a TV for 20 minutes is shocking news to me. That bottle can power a light bulb for an hour. When you start to put facts into everyday comparisons you begin to connect with the information being delivered. A clever way of getting your message across.
The graphic has a bold headline banner which illustrates the theme. Each section is clearly divided and information delivered in bite sized chunks for easy consumption. All the facts can be taken on board quickly and easily without the eye being overwhelmed.
Illustration is strong and graphical to punctuate each fact in turn. Colours used are evocative of recycling and rubbish bins – in a strange way!
A quirky piece of content from DialaBin.com delivering sobering facts about a subject no one makes much time to think about. I am currently sorting my glass bottles out to take to the ‘special’ bin.
Overall a 7 out of 10.
