I am a self confessed ‘Bah Humbug’ and not the biggest fan of Christmas. I find it gets in the way of my work schedule. You have to spend hours in overcrowded shops spending more money than you can afford. Suffer infuriating Christmas songs from mid November. And watch rowdy Christmas office party goers vomit their way through the city streets. Should have lined your stomach first love.
The true meaning of Christmas, for me, is about appreciating what you have and your loved ones. Maybe part of the reason I dislike Christmas so much is because my family get togethers are much like watching an episode of Eastenders with everyone having a glorious bun fight. One thing my family do well is argue. Every year I convince myself we can have that picture postcard perfect Christmas when in reality go home at 7pm on the 25th December being thankful it’s all over.
Anyway, I digress. Christmas crazy season is upon us and we are descended into tinsel chaos. So, for a seasonal piece of content candy we have The 12 Facts of Christmas infographic from UpUpandAway.co.uk.
On first impression this is a fabulous illustration feast. Excellent graphic illustrations in punchy festive colours. I love the typeface used for the Christmas banner – it sits well with the cartoon style.
Each section is clearly divided with colour block backgrounds and a flag tab shows us which fact we are reading (1-12).
Cue a series of fantastic, quirky facts that are much more interesting than what you find in a cracker on the big day. My favourite being: Christmas trees are to blame for 1,000 A&E visits every year. How are people so negligent with ladder use? And, Santa eats 150 billion calories on Christmas Eve. It’s the reindeer I feel sorry for.
I love this cheery infographic which cannot fail to put a smile on even the grimmest of faces. Interesting trivia facts, stunning visuals, excellent design. What’s not to love.
Overall a 9 out of 10 for The 12 Facts of Christmas.
