Festivals are a great way to soak up the unique culture of a holiday destination in a fun atmosphere. Many travellers like to plan their holidays to coincide with festivals so they get to experience their chosen destination when an event of interest is taking place and the locals are enjoying being hosts. In June there are a number of such festivals taking place. If music is your passion then a festival such as the Montreal Jazz Festival or the Verona Opera Festival may be right up your street. If you are looking for a festival with fireworks and traditional Chinese dancing then the Dragon Boat Festival might attract you to the Mi Lo River in China’s Hunan Province. Alternatively, the National Arts Festival showcases art, theatre, film, music, dance and comedy in Grahamstown, South Africa, from 27 June to 7 July 2013. Another overseas option is to head to Cusco, Peru for Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, which dates back to Inca civilization. For those wanting to stay local, the Snowy Mountains of Music festival celebrates the opening weekend of the snow season at Perisher Valley. Flight Centre have put together this infographic guide to the world’s festivals in June.
