Bucket lists seem to have leapt to popularity in the last few years. Maybe in response to the film starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. We all have our list of things we want to do, in varying degrees of adventure and maybe the seven wonders of the world was once-upon-a-time someone’s ultimate bucket list they wrote down.
The original seven wonders included:
Great Pyramid of Giza
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
Colossus of Rhodes
Lighthouse of Alexandria
Several lists now exist based on the theme but the current definite list seems to be from the New7 Wonders Foundation, formed in 2001. On the list is:
Great Wall of China
Petra
Christ the Redeemer
Machu Picchu
Chichen Itza
Colosseum
Taj Mahal
Great Pyramid of Giza
Seven Wonder of the World Infographic from Ladbrokes is part of a campaign for Ladbrokes to send a person to each of the Wonders in a competition. Pretty impressive prize.
The graphic itself is very well illustrated depicting each of the Wonders and includes snippets of information and stats about each Wonder. The information is interesting and engaging – always a good start. The colour palette used a limited two colours which benefits the design reducing a potentially busy design into a beautiful tonal piece. Overuse of colour would have killed this. Each section is clearly defined as you scroll down. Typography is strong and key stats are pulled out and highlighted.
I think the graphic could have given reference to the seven wonders source with a little explanation but otherwise this is a great piece of work.
Overall I give Seven Wonder of the World Infographic an 8 out of 10.
