The Hazards of Manual Handling 2013-2014

Certain industries are very difficult to create content for. Probably top of the list includes building and industrial trades. I review a lot of content as part of what I do and I probably see more badly concepted content for what you would consider the ‘interesting’ industries than I do any other. My belief is that challenging circumstances bring about creativity and ingenuity. One of my favourite pieces of content I have ever seen is a blog post of the world’s worst toilets. Photographs taken of the most filthy, disgusting toilets that builders have ever encountered – it’s great car crash, who doesn’t love to see something gross! That blog post gained a massive amount of traction and exposure for the building firm that had the simple and genius idea.

I have said many times that when dealing with niche industries you should go niche and specific with your content. Especially delivering industry statistics that will be of genuine interest to your audience.

The Hazards of Manual Handling 2013-2014 infographic, from SHShandlingsolutions.com does just that, it delivers industry specific data that has genuine value.

Starting at the top the infographic has a very strong banner, I love the red title banner which grabs my attention and the black and white image used instantly tells me this is an industrial workplace graphic.

Moving down the graphic the data is presented clearly, highlighted well and benefits from strong, crisp icons. Each section is clearly transitioned. Colour usage is limited to an industrial palette. Typography is strong and all information clearly delivered.

My only comment is that I am not a fan of over-branding and would prefer to see the company logo more discreet at the bottom. Overall though this is a good job.

The Hazards of Manual Handling 2013-2014 infographic gets a 7.5 out of 10.
