Almost 50% of all small business will be using videoconferencing in the next three years, making it one of the fastest growing business tools in the uk. This technology is changing the way we do business, opening the door to business models unimaginable 20 years ago. Some more interesting stats include:
-29% of SME’s in the UK are currently using video conferencing; this is predicted to grow to 49% by 2015 and 63% in the next five years.
-Among SMEs already using the technology, the key benefit most cited is the reduction of travel costs for meetings and remote employees – cited by 62% of respondents
-The growth of the mobile workforce is another key factor; 46% of UK SMEs already have more than half of their staff working remotely, and 40% expect the number of remote workers to increase in the next 2-3 years. Half of the SMEs using video conferencing have said it enabled effective home working.
Improved workforce productivity is also seen as the key reason to invest in better communications technology according to 90% of respondents; whilst 80% said it would help them compete with larger companies.
